Important Cities and Towns

1.   Chakwal

The largest city, though it would be a misnomer to call it a city and a town would be more appropriate, of the district is Chakwal, lying 100 kilometers southwest of Islamabad on the Rawalpindi-Sargodha Road. The area it covers is 36 square kilometers.  The occupation of the people residing in the city is business, commerce and commercial enterprise, though a large number of rural landlords and industrialists of Chakwal also live here.

2.   Talagang

Talagang, 45 kilometers west of Chakwal on the Chakwal-Mianwali road, is the second largest town of the district, it covers an area of 26 square kilometers.  The culture of Talagang is the same as that of Chakwal, though a little more rural.

        3.  Choa Saidan Shah

Located 35 kilometers south of Chakwal on the Chakwal-Khewra Road, Choa Saidan Shah covers an area of 10 square kilometers.  The town is placed in an idyllic bowl shaped valley, surrounded by lush green hills full of peacocks.

Apart from these three, the towns of Kallar Kahar, Balkassar, Dhudhial, Lawa, Bhaun, Buchal Kalan and Dhumman are also important.
